Entram as a Venue

A gym and a venue are usually two different addresses. In Tijuana they have, more than once, been the same one. Entram Gym was founded in 2006 in the city by Raúl Arvizu, and its primary function has always been training: a room where fighters are developed. On a handful of scheduled nights since 2020, though, the same floor has been cleared and reset to hold sanctioned and amateur competition. This is a short record of Entram used not as a gym but as a venue.

The first documented instance came in the summer of the pandemic. UWC 22, held on July 3, 2020, was the first Ultimate Warrior Challenge Mexico event staged at Entram, run behind closed doors because of the restrictions of the moment. The closed-doors format was a product of its circumstances. With public halls shut, a gym floor already fitted with a cage and mats offered a controlled space to keep a fight card running when a conventional arena could not open its doors.

A room built to train fighters needs little to become a room that stages them: a cage is already there, and so is the staff.

Five years on, the building took the same role for a different promotion. LAP 1, the debut card of the Latin American Prospects amateur league, took place at Entram on July 20, 2025; in the main event Doedk Rodríguez defeated Cristóbal Pérez Ruiz by split decision, contested at 150 pounds over three three-minute rounds. The amateur format, short rounds across mixed disciplines, is the kind of programming a converted gym can hold without a dedicated arena behind it.

Why a gym doubles as a venue

The arrangement is not unusual in regional mixed martial arts, where the distance between where fighters train and where they compete is thin. A room already equipped with a cage, mats, and a coaching staff can convert to a venue with limited added infrastructure. For a promotion assembling an amateur circuit, that lowers the cost of putting on a card and keeps the event physically close to the athletes who fill it. What is uncommon is the same address serving two promotions, five years apart, for two very different reasons: a shuttered-city stopgap in 2020, and a ground-floor amateur debut in 2025.

The record as a venue is short and specific, and that is the point of setting it down plainly. Entram's main output remains fighters, not fight nights; hosting the competition is a secondary function of the building. But it is a documented one, and in a scene where the gym and the arena keep collapsing into a single address, it is worth keeping the count.
