AXIS Athlete is an independent combat-sports outlet. It covers one region in depth: the Tijuana-San Diego border corridor, and the gyms, coaches, amateur cards, and fighters that make it up. The outlet is not affiliated with any promotion, gym, management company, or sanctioning body, and it does not sell tickets, representation, or coverage. The reason for the narrow focus is simple. The corridor produces and imports a great deal of talent, and very little of it is reported in English. AXIS exists to close that gap with steady, sourced reporting.
Coverage runs across a few standing beats: regional events and results, the cross-border pipeline that moves fighters between Baja California and Southern California, and the gyms and coaches that anchor the scene. Reporting is published in English and Spanish, the two languages the corridor is read in.
Bylines
Contributors write under standing bylines. Each byline keeps to a fixed beat and carries a consistent name from one article to the next, so a reader can follow a writer's work across the site. Pen names are ordinary practice in journalism, and the knowledge behind these is real: the reporting draws on two decades of following combat sports across the region and beyond. Bios state that general background and nothing more. AXIS does not attach invented particulars, such as a specific former employer, school, award, or title, to a byline, because a credibility claim that cannot be checked has no place on a page whose whole value is being right.
Sourcing
The voice is neutral and third-party. AXIS reports results and records; it does not promote fighters, and it does not editorialize about their shortcomings. Every factual claim traces to a public source. A claim that cannot be sourced is held back rather than published as fact, and volatile claims, such as a current ranking or an active win-loss record, carry the date they were verified so a reader can see how fresh they are.
Corrections
Corrections are treated as a feature, not an embarrassment. Errors of fact are corrected in the open, and every correction is logged permanently, with the date, the article, what was wrong, and what it now says. The full record is public at the correction log. AXIS does not quietly edit a live factual claim; when a fact changes, the change is noted on the article and added to the log. For an outlet whose value rests on accuracy, a visible correction is a credibility signal, not a cost.
Contact
Corrections, source tips, and inquiries go to [email protected], or through the correction form on any article. Removal requests from people named in coverage are handled through the same channel, same day.
