Two meetings with Shevchenko
Mexican-born Alexa Grasso challenged Valentina Shevchenko for the UFC women’s flyweight championship at UFC 285 on March 4, 2023. After Shevchenko attempted a spinning attack, Grasso took her back and secured a submission. The finish came at 4 minutes, 34 seconds of the fourth round at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, giving Grasso the title. [AG1] [AG2] [AG3]
Grasso and Shevchenko met again on September 16, 2023, at the first Noche UFC event, which celebrated Mexican Independence Day. Grasso scored a knockdown in the second round, and the fight ended in a split draw. [AG2] [AG3]
